Vessel of MercyI am a mother of two teenage boys, living in Surrey, BC with my husband and my children. I was born and brought up in an Orthodox Christian family in India. As a child I attended church services in a ritualistic way. In 1980 I came to Vancouver, B.C. and my husband brought me to the local church in Vancouver. I was a genuine believer in the Lord, but was not a seeking one. The day I first met with the church in Vancouver, they were going through the Life-Study of Exodus by Witness Lee. That particular message was about the tabernacle. Though I was to some extent familiar with the book of Exodus, I never heard a message like that before. I was amazed by the detailed description of the Tabernacle and the underlying meaning of it. This stirred up my curiosity. So week after week I attended the meetings on the Life-Study of Exodus. This actually was the beginning. After a few months, I was introduced to some books written by Witness Lee and Watchman Nee. The first book that caught my attention was The All-Inclusive Christ. This book really changed my whole concept of the Christian life. I learned that the land of Canaan is a type of the All Inclusive Christ (Colossians 2:6-7; 3:11)! Christ is the reality of all positive things (Colossians 2:16-17; 1 Corinthians 1:30). This land (Christ) is good. The goodness of this land is in its spaciousness (Exodus 3:8) (the unlimited Christ), and in its ascendancy (Ezekiel 20:40-42; 34:13-15) (Christ as the ascended One) (Acts 2:32-33). It is also good in its unsearchable riches. It is rich in water (brooks, fountains, springs,) flowing in valleys and hills. This land is an exceedingly good land, rich in food (land of wheat, barley, vines, fig trees, pomegranates, olive trees, milk and honey) (Deuteronomy 8:7). This land is rich in minerals too - stone, mountains, iron, and copper. The spiritual significance of this good land is really wonderful! I was that in our Christian life we experience Him as the living water (John 7:37), the living water brings us the supply of Christ as food (Revelation 22:1-2). This food brings us to maturity (1 Peter 2:2; Hebrews 5:14-6:1) for the building of God's house and for the Kingdom. Whenever there are believers who are matured by experiencing Christ, with them the house is built (Ephesians 2:21-22). I was very clear that whenever I enjoy Christ, there is always an issue - the building of God's house (2 Peter 2:5). I can boldly declare that it is the Lord's mercy which brought me to this place, to enjoy the All-Inclusive One and be part of His house. Monie Stanley | Back to List |
